31st July ….. Travelled up to Hartoft this afternoon for Turtle Dove. I always look forward to trying to find Turtle Doves when they return from their hazardous journey from Africa each May. Sadly through over hunting and massive pressures on their wintering quarters, Turtle Doves are becoming an increasingly rare sight for birders in the UK.
However, we are fortunate in this part of North Yorkshire as we have a pretty good but scattered population of summering birds. But these doves can be rather challenging to find and photograph. Eventually with a lot of help and a lot of luck I finally managed to get some photos….. Massive shout out to Nicky and Simon for making this one happen .. Cheers folks!!!
Now Home for the Big Match!!! Come on England!!!
I remember watching the World Cup back in 1966 with my Dad ….. and even as a young lad I still remember that magic feeling of winning!!
Fast forward through the decades of so many false dawns, dashed hopes and the dreaded penalty shoot outs. And just recently we have been so close; with the semi final defeat in the World Cup back in 2018 and last year in the Euro final penalty shoot out with Italy. Fast forward to this afternoons match and our ladies were in the Euro final against ….. Germany!!!
After an unbelievably tense match our ladies came out winners with goals from Ella Toone and the winner from Chloe Kelly !!!
Many congratulations to Sarina Wiegman the Lionesses and all the backroom/ support staff you brought the Cup home !!! And made millions of people very, very happy: Thank you Again Our Superb Lionesses!!!!!!!!!!
WHAT AN INCREDIBLE END TO JULY !!!!!
