Algarve trip: September 30th – 10th October
My annual Autumn trip to the Algarve once again produced some really nice birds …. with over 100 species seen in a 10 day trip. For this post I thought I’d try a slightly different format .. so rather than a daily log … I’m posting some of the birds I photographed there along with some sites I visited.
All the birds were photographed on the Algarve in as natural state as possible. We had pretty decent weather whilst down there, with only a couple of mornings spoilt by rain. However the rain didn’t last long before the sun was out again.
Temperatures were about 60-65 F. Certainly warm enough for T-shirts and shorts. Although at on some evenings you did need a fleece .. but overall brilliant weather for October. If you want any further information on any of the sites mentioned please don’t hesitate to get in touch … and any feedback on the photos’ would be most welcome. Many thanks.
Sites Visited: Salgados Marsh, Alvor Marsh, Alvor Harbour, Sagres península, Parque Ambiental: Vilamoura, Castro Verde, Castro Marim and the lagoons and salt marsh near Faro airport, which are all part of the Ria Formosa reserve. This reserve stretches from hair all the way to the Spanish Border at Villa Real.
